I love those weekends that seem to slow you down when you can make the most of every minute to refresh and relax. Mine was exactly that with plenty of fun times spent with family and friends and our ever-growing puppy Charlie. I now feel refreshed for what is going to be a busy week with last minute preparation for the First Comes Love bridal fair this weekend!
Today I want to share with you a really easy and effective tip to cleanse your body on the inside, that I learnt recently from my local naturopath. During our chat the topic of acidic diets came up. You would think that lemons are the most acidic foods out there, right?! I thought so too, until she explained that one of the most important features of lemon is that, once digested, is an alkaline food and a helpful one to balance the PH level of our blood.
The naturopath shared with me her morning routine where she and her husband each drink a full glass of room temperature water which they have added half a squeezed lemon to. If even that sounds too much, she says the key is to make it as drinkable as you can! Whilst balancing your PH levels, the lemon also cleanses your liver and helps to wake up your metabolism. As a bonus it also helps fend off those unwanted nasties like viruses and colds that float around this time of year. Sounds like a pretty good (and natural) medicine to me!
So all you really need to add together are:
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 full glass of room temp/tap water
It does take some getting used to especially for those who don’t enjoy sour tastes, but you can start small and build up to the half lemon amount. I have definitely noticed a difference in feeling refreshed and more awake. Give it a go!
