I have long held a fascination with all things from the sea. From the wide and stunning array of ocean blues to all varieties of sea life (and their remnants) from the shallows to the depths, my love of anything maritime also encompasses the romance of days gone by. Floating vessels and their various rigging and nautical supplies used by seamen, soliders and merchants. Not to mention the many myths of the sea with beautiful imagery of glistening scaled mer-people, under water lost cities and well traveled floating mail in bottles.
When given the chance to step into the salt water for any occasion I do so with a sense of anticipation and adventure. This Australia day weekend saw us travel south in search of a family favorite – the blue manna crab. Our estuary walking rewarded us with an abundance of the sweet-meat treats to enjoy. The iridescent blue of the crustaceans spotted amongst the murky water is always just as much an enjoyment as the taste for me!
