Today I’m delighted to share with you a beautiful Australian business story. One that is a truly genuine appreciation of the natural handmade and love of the simple things in life. An approach I wholeheartedly believe in!

Once Was Lost is the concept of the adventurous and wonderfully talented husband and wife team Andy and Laura Wortlock. I have so enjoyed following their journey, now culminating in the launch of their superbly produced online journal and store; a visual gift (featuring imagery by Sarah Williams) showcasing a thoughtfully curated collection with a sensitivity to honest craftsmanship.once was lost new extended

I was first drawn to Andy and Laura’s natural aesthetic through their images shared of countryside Tasmania where they were originally based (and married) before heading north to Hervey Bay, Queensland. Their observation of the special in the everyday (in particular nature) is perfectly reflected in their launch collection. In fact I found myself easily getting lost in the beautiful surrounds acting as setting for their pieces. When Laura sent me a sneak peek of their scarf range, not only did I want one of each (!), it revealed to me that the couple had suitably translated their ideas of understated beauty and respect for handmade to their products.

The talent of this couple doesn’t stop there! Laura is a watercolour artist and also creates hand lettered silk screen prints (she seriously has the penmanship of dreams that will sweep you off your feet). Laura has been a busy bee the last year and will also be launching her artwork website so watch this space! Both Laura and Andy also share a great eye for photography, which you can follow over on their instagram account.

To celebrate the launch of their new site, Laura and Andy have generously offered one of their gorgeous (and my favourite) Etta Infinity scarves in charcoal from the new range to one very lucky reader. This artisan beauty was hand crafted in Africa from cotton and organic silk.

To be in the running, simply leave a comment below by 10pm this Sunday, December 8th. I’ll pick a winner randomly and announce over on my facebook page next week. Don’t forget to like my page to keep an eye on the results as you may be taking home an early Christmas present for yourself! My biggest thanks to Andy and Laura for this beautiful gift that I know will be very well enjoyed.

I’m especially looking forward to the launch of the new signature bag so will be keeping a very close eye on these guys! You can continue following the Once Was Lost journey and inspiration over on their blog, facebook and instagram.

Creativity & collaboration – it is so restorative to see the beautiful blogs, photographs and websites created by yourself, Andy, Laura and Sarah. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, in our amazing world, there was more focus on the beauty that is within and around us rather than the seemingly preferred images and stories of mainstream media … One can only dream!
